A letter to our son on the day of his service…
As children, we never stop thanking our parents for all that they give us. But today we want to thank you Chase, for all that you’ve given us.
Thank you for showing us what handsome really looks like: You had the best features from the both of us: a perfect smile, beautiful big eyes and soft dark hair. We wanted to pinch ourselves…how did we get so lucky?!
Thank you for teaching us real laughter: It took a couple of months to hear those magical sounds…but it was so worth the wait! Your laugh was perfect! It was infectious and taught us how to laugh in a whole new way.
Thank you for showing us how much love is possible in the world: The second you were born, we felt it. It was planted and has been growing and growing ever since. It will never go away and will always help us keep you close to our hearts.
Thank you for teaching us to dance: We read in all of the parenting books about making sure to have a bedtime routine…something to calm the baby as he gets ready to sleep. We couldn’t think of anything better than having a dance party in the family room at 9pm.
Thank you for being part of our team: In some small (ok, maybe big) way, you knew you had to be a Dodger fan, an A’s fan, a Guns N’ Roses singer and a Cal Poly Mustang. Apparently we hadn’t learned the lesson yet about how to not be too pushy.
Thank you for letting us smother you with kisses and hugs: The number ‘1’ didn’t exist when it came to those. They were always long and never-ending.
Thank you for making us morning people: One of the best times of the day was first thing in the morning. You’d wake up talking in the crib and playing with your hands. Sometimes we thought we were going to have to race each other to your room, to see who would get to you first.
To sum it up, thank you for being the most perfect son two parents could ask for. These past six months have been amazing and ones that will go down in history as the best EVER!
We will always miss you, always think about you, always love you and never forget you.
Love,
Your Mom & Dad
